Formerly a partner in Popejoy & MacKenzie PC, Greg MacKenzie joined Keleher & McLeod in March of 2008 as Of Counsel. Greg was admitted to practice before the New Mexico courts in 1993 and has been working as a litigation lawyer since that time. Since 1997, Greg has devoted virtually all of his practice to representing clients in estate and trust litigation. This includes representing clients who are contesting or defending the validity of wills, trusts and other estate planning documents and those who are involved in litigation over the administration of estates and trusts. His cases frequently involve allegations of breach of fiduciary duty and the construction of controlling instruments such as wills and trusts.
Greg also frequently handles litigation in contested complex guardianships and conservatorships. He has been appointed by judges in several of New Mexico's judicial districts to serve as guardian ad litem for incapacitated adults involved in those types of proceedings.
Greg has received his certificate from the UNM School of Law mediation course and has served as a mediator in cases involving contested trusts, probates and difficult guardianships and conservatorships.
Recent Activities:
Some of Greg's recent activities include serving as Arbitrator for the Client Attorney Assistance Program, State Bar of New Mexico; Treasurer for the New Mexico Guardianship Association; Lobbyist for the New Mexico Guardianship Association; Participant in the House Joint Memorial 34 Task Force to Review Guardianship Proceedings In New Mexico; and Author and Presenter of "Discharging Trustee Liability", for the 2007 New Mexico Probate Seminar.
Education:
Greg graduated in 1990 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (B.A. – magna cum laude), and he obtained his law degree and M.A. in anthropology from Syracuse University in 1993.
Professional Affiliations & Honors:
In addition to his work as a litigator, Greg has been a presenter at several continuing legal education seminars, and he served as president of the Albuquerque Lawyers Club. Greg is rated "B-V" by Martindale-Hubbell.
